From Global Warming Dreams to YouTube Growth Strategies

August 24, 2025 – Sunday

I had a bad dream last night that resulted in me getting up at 5 am. Short story is Canada was going through (I guess) global warming and it was going to get so hot people would die. I feel like we were warned ahead of time but maybe we didn’t rush to leave because everyone was expecting massive traffic jams. Either way Bob the neighbour, said he had this outdoor table with an umbrella that could fly and we could use it to escape. He said it can travel very far on a single charge. I guess we waited until the last minute or found out then, but we all loaded up and it started to work but kept failing.

After some attempts, it was getting really hot, almost like the end was coming, and Bob hopped off to reduce weight. He said to leave him but I didn’t want to. I also didn’t believe we would have made it regardless, but he insisted and it was all happening so fast. As we flew away and Bob waved, I yelled that I love him and he was the best neighbour. In that moment, it felt like he was blaming himself for our deaths because the table wasn’t working and that thought sucked flying away. At this point, I woke up.

Doubt the dream meant anything, but this morning has been good so far. I started reading a new book, Create Something Awesome. I really like it because it falls into exactly where I’m at in life, trying to build a personal brand. My goal today is to continue editing my new shop video. I’m trying to be more strict on my final cut, removing unneeded fluff, and I plan to attempt color correcting for this video.

I really want to get some results from this video, not in terms of audience growth, though that would be nice, but instead stats to see if what I did this time is working. I really want to get better at reading the analytics on YouTube so I can better understand my progress, but it’s hard to read it and get an idea on if what I am doing is working or not.

Like when I post a video, the first day results can be poor, but my slab flattening video blew up on day 2. Now typically I’d make changes after seeing the day 1 results, but would it have performed as good if I did? Or maybe performed better? I guess there’s no answer to that, but I get this feeling with research, I’d find a process I should follow. Almost like a checklist that I follow, and if the video isn’t performing as the checklist suggests, I should make a change.

I know there is the average that YouTube provides, but is that limited to what I should expect, and is there a better process? Another concern is when my video starts to flatline. Like my slab flattening one, it started to slow down on views, does that mean I should be making any changes?

I decided to step away from writing to set up ChatGPT to do some deep research on this. Hopefully, the results are good. One other thing I’ve been thinking about is whether or not posting clips from my long form video onto my socials is actually benefiting me or not. I don’t want it to feel spammy to people who’ve watched the long-form video, but I also don’t want to miss out on potential exposure.

There’s also a part of me that feels like posting these clips makes my socials not worth following because they dominate any unique content I may post. That’s mainly due to me hating posting on socials in the first place, but I know it’s important to growth. I do also see benefits like the poll I ran for my live edge project.
