Flattening My First Live Edge Project & Organizing My Shop

September 1 2025 - Monday
Entry #13

Yesterday was pretty successful. I finished flattening my live edge slab, which unfortunately ended up being 1 ¾" thick. I really wish it didn’t bow so hard. I hope I didn’t ruin the project.

I also got the templates drawn out. I ended up going with the good ol’ pencil and ruler. I actually think it was my best option. I was able to learn so much, especially how to mark a radius, which I’ve never done before, especially without a big enough compass. It allowed me to learn and problem-solve, which I haven’t had to do in a while.

I also decided to organize my garage a bit. It was nice hanging out with my dad doing that until he started to get too drunk. Kind of got annoying at that point… I was able to get all my wood organized, which freed up so much space. I also organized some of my tools, which cleaned up a lot, and I started to get into planning my shop a bit more.

I really want to work on my shop organization today, but I should probably work on the table instead. I could, however, build my dust collection cart and make a video with that. Maybe I should start with doing a bit of the table, then I’ll do some of the shop stuff.

My new video is doing alright. The CTR is really good, but views could do better. I did a title and thumb change. Currently it’s at 2.9k impressions, 7.4% CTR, but only 262 views. I assume it’s because of the low AVD, which is 2:49/10:31 (26.8%). The drop-off is pretty gradual, but it’s hard to understand what went wrong.

I assume there’s nothing I can change at this point. I mean, I could remove that second intro, but it’s not even like the drop is that intense during it. Like, there’s still 57% retention by the end of it.
